“I got no static with anyone.”

This weekend, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie was set to perform on Saturday night (September 1st) in New Jersey. However, the show was canceled with reports suggesting that it was nixed due to the threats of violence made against the rapper.

According to NBC New York, A Boogie would have been joined by PnB Rock, Funkmaster Flex and more at the New School Back To School Jam at 8 p.m. at the Newark Symphony Hall. But, it was Dexter Thomas, the CEO of the promotions company putting the event together, who decided to cancel when Newark police allegedly received a phone call in which someone threatened gun violence agaisnt the Bronx emcee and others.

In a new post on Instagram, however, Boogie is denying the story, asserting that something is afoot as he doesn’t have pressure with anyone. “Mf’s be lien,” he penned in an Instagram caption. “I got no static with ANYONE it’s nothing but love over here πŸ’―πŸ™πŸ½ Newark if ya want a show book me I gotchu πŸ––πŸ½πŸ––πŸ½πŸ––πŸ½”

According to NBC, New Jersey PD would not provide any concrete details as to why the show was entirely canceled, only saying that it was “in the interest of public safety.”

Ironically enough, Thomas says that the event was created to promote peace and non-violence among youth before they head back to school. At the moment, he says there is no way to immediately reschedule the event.
